Sacrament of Reconciliation
As humans, we all make choices that are not in keeping with God’s plan for us. We need to recognize and take ownership of those choices, asking for divine and communal forgiveness. We rely on god’s mercy to strengthen us in the choices yet to be made, in order to live our lives fully as disciples of God.
These choices, which we call sin, keep us from being the persons God has created.
When preparing the children to celebrate this sacrament, focus is made on the stories of forgiveness Jesus told; the Prodigal Son, the Lost Sheep, and other teachings of God’s forgiveness and mercy. We celebrate with joy the love God has for us; that even when we error, we are loved, forgiven and given new opportunities.
St. Cronan celebrates first Reconciliation in the 3rd grade.
